A cultural-entrepreneurship pilot highlights community skills and sustainable heritage development in Maltahöhe, Aus and Utuseb.
A UNESCO-supported pilot in Maltahöhe, Aus and Utuseb places cultural entrepreneurship within Namibia’s wider heritage-development agenda. The initiative’s launch programme ran in November 2025 and focused on connecting heritage with opportunities for local communities.
UNESCO links the pilot to its Priority Africa strategy and work on cultural heritage and capacity development. This makes the initiative relevant to the people who maintain local knowledge, cultural practices and the skills that give places their identity.
The programme offers a useful lens on development: heritage can be discussed alongside enterprise and community capability, while retaining its cultural value. This feature summarises the published pilot scope. It does not announce a current grant round or claim that particular businesses have received funding. UNESCO’s project information remains the reference for further updates.
